Health is wholeness,
not just the absence of symptoms
Restoration of harmony is the goal
When there is harmony, you feel full of life and the mind is at peace. You have maximum powers of resistance and endurance.
Enjoying an inner sense of well-being, you are able to face the challenges of life with hope, enthusiasm and faith.
When symptoms of disharmony arise and the sense of well-being has been disturbed, the causes may have physical, emotional, or internal origins or stem from factors related to one’s living habits. It is often a combination several of these layers.
We’ll work together to unpack and harmonize the layers contributing to the imbalances using treatment strategies appropriate to your individual case and aligned to the levels in which these imbalances may have originated.
I deeply appreciate your consideration as a potential partner in your wellness journey. It is truly an honor and I’m committed to offering you my complete attention and care in all of our interactions.

About me
I am a graduate of Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine in Sugar Grove, North Carolina and maintain an active acupuncture license in this state.
I began serious exploration of Eastern Medicine and the wealth of associated health-harmonizing and vitality-promoting practices in 2004 in an effort to find lasting relief from the severe migraine headaches I was experiencing at the time.
My studies began in Florida and I received certification as a clinical herbalist as the first graduate of a program combining both Chinese and Western traditions and continue to augment my range of wellness practice modalities through continuing education and self-study.
I love to cook and utilize both Chinese and Ayurvedic principles in my approach to using food as medicine and incorporate this aspect of wellness in my clinical interactions.
I teach a weekly Qi Gong class at Neighborhood Yoga in Downtown Boone every Tuesday from 9:30 am until 11 am where I guide the participants through a comprehensive self-care routine involving standing meditation, movement, and self-massage. I am passionate about sharing gentle and restorative self-care practices with the people I encounter both in the classes I teach and in the clinic.
I’m also a performing musician active in the Boone music scene since arriving to the High Country in the summer of 2007. I serve as a musical accompanist for modern dance classes in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Appalachian State University and lead a community drum circle seasonally at Jones House. My current list of bands I play drums and percussion with include Sola Bazaar, MaisCéu, and Dead of Winter.
I truly believe in the potency of music as a form of vibrational medicine and frequently add sound therapy to my sessions, conjured up spontaneously and inspired by the evolving nature of the co-created moment to moment clinical experience with my clients.
My services
My sessions are generally 60-75 minutes in duration and are geared towards providing a “spa” experience while we address the concerns that prompted your visit.
The treatment phase of the session begins with a form of hands-on-therapy called Tui Na or Chinese medical massage to foster deep relaxation of the body tissues and promote circulation of the vital energy and fluids throughout the body. Once we have established this receptive and open state of relaxation, we’ll proceed with some acupuncture appropriate to the situation presenting that day. Other related therapies including cupping, moxabustion, and gua sha may be employed to support the treatment if deemed necessary.
If consented to, I’ll remain present in the room once the acupuncture needle insertion has occurred and provide a backdrop of gentle sound in which the recipient may settle deeper into the harmonization process.
On conclusion of the treatment portion of the office visit, we’ll discuss supportive exercises, dietary recommendations, herbal strategies and any other suitable adjunct approaches to continue the momentum of the treatment.

Acupuncture helps to encourage the harmonious movement of energy which may have become erratic or impeded due to an injury, stress, emotional trauma, or a combination of any number of internal and external factors. If you have a specific condition you're looking to treat or any concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Acupuncture is generally not painful and many people find it to be a relaxing experience often drifting off to sleep during the treatment once all the needles have been inserted. There is often a momentary sensation of the tissues “grabbing” the inserted needle but this should subside quickly.

This will depend on several factors, including the following:
